The Planning Division prepares California State Parks and other outdoor recreation providers for the future by:-Collecting information and providing research and analysis on recreation opportunities, park resources, and public preferences.
-Collaborating with others to plan for California’s state parks, recreational trails, and other outdoor recreation areas.
-Communicating recreation and park needs and opportunities to agency leaders, park and recreation professionals, other public officials, and the public.
The Planning Division's responsibilities include:
State Park System Planning: Including Park Unit General Plans, Management Plans, 2002 State Park System Plan, Central Valley Vision, and Delta and Suisun Marsh Recreation Proposal.
Outdoor Recreation Planning: Providing guidance to local, state and federal park & recreation agencies. Includes the California Outdoor Recreation Plan (CORP).
Statewide Trails Program: Including oversight of the California Recreational Trails Plan and Progress Reports.
The Park Planner's Toolbox: Technical assistance for park and outdoor recreation providers.
Publications: Produced by the Planning Division for park and recreation professionals.
