Boating
The Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta offers boaters more than 1,000 miles of navigable waterways. Brannan Island is located between the two major river systems and gives easy access to a huge area of the Delta. A six lane launch ramp is open 24 hours a day and offers, restrooms, hot coin-operated showers, a pay phone, picnic area and a safe well lighted area to park vehicles and boat trailers while you're on the river. The launch ramp is adjacent to the boat berths, where 32 slips are available for overnight use. The boat berths come with either a walk-in camp site or a recreational vehicle site. One launch ramp is wheelchair accessable. Launch fees are $5.00 per day. Parking is an additional $8.00 per day. Boat berth fees vary with the season. Call the park for current fees.

Windsurfing

The sport of windsurfing began in the 1970's and has grown in popularity. The Delta is a great place to windsurf because thermals are created by an atmospheric pressure difference between San Francisco Bay and the Central Valley. This difference causes the wind to blow steadily during the summer. Some of the popular windsurfing areas on the Sacramento River are Windy Cove, the Powerlines, and Sherman Island Access Area. During the summer months, water temperatures are in the 70's and air temperatures range from the high 80's into the mid 90's, making windsurfing appealing.

Windy Cove is closed at this time until further notice.

Canoe Tours

Park staff and volunteers lead canoe tours of near-by Delta waterways are no longer offered at this time until further notice.
