School Group Visits
We value your business and strive to make every trip a learning experience. Use these helpful hints to plan a fantastic field trip:
San Juan Bautista State Historic Park and the Mission operate separate from each other. Each class must have a reservation for the state park AND the Mission (831-623-4528). Reservations for the Mission are now done only online. Mission San Juan Bautista's website is www.oldmissionsjb.org. There is a link to school reservations on the right hand side of the page.
All state park reservations are made through ReserveAmerica (toll free at 1-866-240-4655). If you have any questions or problems, please call the park.
Before calling ReserveAmerica decide if you want a paid Interpreter led program or a free self-guided visit. Each paid Interpreter Led program includes all day admission to the state park.
Upon arrival, please check in at the Plaza Hotel.
Schools arriving without a reservation may be turned away. If space is available, adults will be charged the current day use fee.
A ratio of 1 adult to every 7 students is required.
Interpreter led programs cost $75.00 per class payable in cash, credit card, check or money order made out to California State Parks. The state park cannot accept debit cards.
Paid Interpreter led programs require extra staff, failure to submit payment or last minute cancellations will result in an invoice to the school's district.
After reserving an Interpreter led program, call the park to arrange a specific program for your class at 831-623-2753. See the link for program descriptions. /pages/563/files/Program%20Descriptions.pdf
A teacher must be present during all Interpreter led programs.
Please ensure all students and chaperones understand the importance of protecting the park’s fragile resources.
San Juan Bautista is heavily impacted during the spring; consider a fall field trip for a better experience.
To cancel a reservation please call ReserveAmerica AND the state park.
To make your visit more educational download the Jr. Tour Guides activity sheets at: Junior Tour Guides, 2014.pdf These information sheets are designed to use before, during, and after your visit.
