Gold Discovery Park Association

The Gold Discovery Park Association (GDPA) is proud to serve as the cooperating association for the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park in Coloma.

The GDPA supports a variety of programs for children and adults — as well as programs that help preserve historic buildings and maintain park facilities — allowing the Park to meet the Dept. of Parks & Recreation mission to provide visitors with top-quality educational experiences. We also sponsor special events, including Gold Discovery Day, ColomaFest—Small Town Summer Days, ‘49er Family Festival and Christmas in Coloma.

Just inside the Gold Discovery Museum, we operate the Gold Rush Mercantile, which carries educational and interpretive items and a fine selection of Gold Rush-era books, clothing, gifts, and toys.

The Gold Discovery Park Association is funded through grants, memberships, donations, merchandise sales, and fundraising events. For more information visit or email the association at

Program Overview:

This association is dedicated to enhancing the educational and interpretive programs in California State Parks and is one of more than 80 associations that assist us in meeting the needs of over 90 million visitors to California State Parks.  Cooperating associations are related to, but independent of the state parks they serve and are recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as charitable nonprofit organizations (IRS 501 (c) (3).

Many cooperating associations have independent websites and we encourage you to visit them.  We do not guarantee the website content or accuracy.
