Volunteer Opportunities

The interpretive activities and trail work can't happen without our great volunteers. Palomar Mountain State Park is always looking for persons of all ages and backgrounds interested in assisting us with interpreting the parks natural and cultural history and keeping our trails safe.

Interpreters Assistance Unit (IAU) covers many diverse duties, from giving camp fire programs to leading nature walks.

Camp Host.  Live in the park for 3 - 6 months. Camp Hosts assist the campers by selling firewood and park maps, conducting light maintenance of campgrounds, providing park information, and sorting recyclables.  The host site has hook-ups: water, power, and septic.  Hosts are required to volunteer 24 hours a week and work weekends and holidays.
