Campsites

The park has 22 campsites for overnight camping year round, and all campsites include a fire ring and a picnic table.  There are two ADA accessible campsites, toilets, and showers. Check in time is 2pm and check out time is noon.

Make reservations through Reserve California year round by calling 1-800-444-7275 or by going to ReserveCalifornia online.

 


Campsite Capacity

A maximum of two vehicles and two tents are allowed per campsite, and the maximum number of occupants per campsite is eight people.Any towed vehicle counts towards your two-vehicle limit. There is an overflow parking area for extra vehicles in the main day use parking lot, at the museum. Please be sure to pay for the extra vehicle. If you have more than eight people or two tents, please be sure to reserve additional campsites as needed.

The campground is typically full on holiday weekends.

Showers

Showers are token operated and will only work with tokens. There is a token machine available to purchase tokens at the shower building.

Firewood

Firewood may not be available to purchase at the park, so please call in advance to check on availability.


 Big Time

The fourth Friday in September is the start of the Miwok's fall celebration known as Big Time. Beginning Thursday night of that week, and continuing through Sunday night, the campground is closed for this special event.


Environmental Group Camp

Camping in the U'macha'tam'ma' sites (bark houses) is a unique experience. Here you can "get away from it all" and connect with the natural world. There are seven bark houses, each one suitable for up to six people. They have been constructed in a secluded area of the park. The camping is undeveloped. You must haul water, supplies, and equipment 200 yards or more from the parking area. There are no showers or flushing toilet facilities
