Camping at Indian Grinding Rock
At Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park we offer 22 campsites for overnight camping. The campground has room for RV's up to 27 feet long while all campsites include a fire ring and a picnic table. We have ADA accessible toilets and showers in the combination buidling located in the campground; the showers are coin operated and will only work with quarters.
During the summer, typically mid May to mid September, reservations to camp at Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park can be made through Reserve America by calling 1-800-444-7275; or by going to Reserve America online.
During the winter the campground is open for camping on a first come, first serve basis.
The weather at the park is very similar to the Sacramento/San Joaquin valley weather. Firewood may not be available to purchase at the park so please call in advance to check on availability of firewood.
The campground usually fills up on holiday weekends. The fourth Friday in September is the start of the Miwok's fall celebration known as Big Time. Beginning Thursday night of that week, and continuing through Sunday night, the campground is closed for this special event.
$30.00 per night for the first vehicle
$8.00 per night for the second vehicle
We gladly accept cash or checks only.
Seniors, 62 years old or older, enjoy a $2.00 per night discount for camping fees.
All campsites are able to accomodate two vehicles only and we do not offer any overflow parking so please plan accordingly. If your second vehicle is towed into the park, such as a travel trailer, you are not required to pay an extra vehicle fee; however, the towed vehicle still counts towards your two vehicle limit. Additionally, the maximum amount of occupants per campsite is eight people.
