El Capitan State Beach Showers Shut Off Due to Drought

Due to the severe drought conditions the State is experiencing, showers at El Capitan State Beach will not be available to visitors starting July 31, 2014.  The well that supplies water to the park has been experiencing consistently lower production this year and has reached a point where water production can no longer meet park demand.

The showers will remain unavailable until water production returns to acceptable levels.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and ask you to conserve water during this drought.

At this time, water services at Refugio State Beach and Gaviota State Park are not being impacted.

Please Note:  For the current status of this park, please call (805) 968-1033.

El Capitán State Beach no longer has an RV dump station.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

El Capitán State Beach offers visitors a sandy beach, rocky tidepools, and stands of sycamore and oaks along El Capitán Creek. It’s a perfect setting for swimming, fishing, surfing, picnicking and camping. A stairway provides access from the bluffs to the beach area.

Beach wheelchairs are available for use by the public with no cost. With this specially designed chair, wheelchair users may access the beach at several locations. Contact a ranger or lifeguard for additional information.
