With Labor Day Weekend just around the corner, make plans to visit Railtown 1897 State Historic Park and enjoy a steam-powered excursion train ride through California's scenic Gold Country! Holiday visitors will enjoy a memorable six-mile, 40-minute round trip ride along the rails of the famous "Movie Railroad." Railtown 1897 SHP will offer steam-powered excursion train rides behind the famous "Movie Star Locomotive" Sierra No. 3 on both Saturday and Sunday then behind a vintage diesel locomotive on Monday (Labor Day). Guests are encouraged to spend the day at Railtown 1897 SHP touring the historic Roundhouse, listening to live musical entertainment by fiddler Dave Rainwater and bringing picnic items to enjoy on the sprawling Roundhouse lawn. Capacity is limited for steam-powered excursion train rides so guests are encouraged to arrive early. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the ticket window beginning at 10 a.m. on the days the trains are running. Visitors are encouraged to call 209-984-3953 or visit www.railtown1897.org for updated information.
