Steeped in culture and tradition, the 46th Annual Native American Day will take place on Friday, September 27, and is proudly sponsored by the State Tribal Liaisons of California, the California Department of Justice, the California Environmental Protection Agency, the State Indian Museum and California State Parks. Showcasing a theme of "Parrihos: Partnership" this year, the important event is devoted to maintaining Native culture, including stories, languages, and traditions for today and for future generations. Guests will enjoy cultural demonstrations, compelling guest speakers, the Tule River Color Guard, traditional games, music and dancing, and much more. Then, following the fun and lively event, it's a perfect day to stop by the State Indian Museum to learn and explore even more about Native culture. While the event at the State Capitol is free that day, normal Museum hours and admission prices apply for the State Indian Museum (now open daily!) located at 2618 K Street in Sacramento. For more information about the Native American Day event, contact the State Indian Museum at 916-324-0971 or visit www.parks.ca.gov/indianmuseum.
