Pacheco SP - Spring Nature Hikes
Park: Pacheco SP
Time: 9 a.m. for 4 to 7 hours
For a more strenuous hike join retired Pacheco State Park Ranger Dave Milam, who will take you on a longer hike into the back hills of Pacheco State Park. Participants must be in good physical condition with sturdy footwear and layered clothing, and need to carry lunch and a minimum of 2 quarts of water (more if a hot day).
***Both hikes discuss the Native American and pioneer uses of plants & rich history of Pacheco Pass.
No advance reservations needed for groups under 10 people. (10 or more - please call ahead.)
Be sure to bring: waterproof hiking footwear, layered clothing and hat, sunscreen, and water. Optional: rain gear, binoculars, camera, and field guides. There is no drinking water at Pacheco SP. The only cost is the Park Day Use Fee of $10 per car. For information, call (209) 826-1197
DIRECTIONS: Pacheco State Park is located 22 miles west of Los Banos and 23 miles east of Gilroy, off of Highway 152. Turn south onto Dinosaur Point Road, then take the first right, through the park gate. It is at 38787 Dinosaur Point Road, Hollister, 95023.
