Especially in today’s fast-paced world, it’s more important than ever to take a moment and honor our history, culture and traditions.  And, the State Indian Museum is hosting a very special community event to celebrate and honor California’s Native Elders with the 37th Annual “Gathering of Honored Elders” event on Saturday, June 7, at the Museum. With complimentary admission for this one-day-only, the community is invited to the State Indian Museum to celebrate the special day and be surrounded by these keepers of the traditions who travel from throughout California to attend this important annual event. Along with Native American dancers, guest speakers, community services organizations and arts and crafts vendors who will all be on-site, Museum guests will also have the opportunity to meet the esteemed Elders and explore the treasured Museum.  For more information about this family-friendly event or other activities happening at the State Indian Museum, call 916-324-0971 or visit www.parks.ca.gov/indianmuseum
