SATURDAY, February 21, 2009

Flower Photo
Wildflower Hike (9:30 am)
Join Park Interpreter Carleen Roberts for a short 1-1/2 hour guided walk through the desert in search of one of nature's greatest gifts—the desert wildflowers.

4-Wheel Drive Auto Tour (10 am)
Park Interpreter Jeff Price will take you on an off-road journey you will never forget! Visit the "Hidden Gems" of Ocotillo Wells SVRA during this 4-hour tour where you will see some of the Park's most interesting features.

The tour group will meet at the Ocotillo Wells Ranger Station at 10 am. Space is limited to 10 vehicles. To sign up for this tour, stop by the Ranger Station front desk or call (760) 767-5393. Come prepared for this excursion with a high clearance 4-wheel drive vehicle and bring plenty of water, lunch, and most important, a sense of adventure.

ATV Geology Tour (10 am)
Join Park Naturalist Lesley Manent for a exhilarating tour through the Park's geologic past. From Blowsand Hill through Devils Slide and beyond, you will experience how geology has affected our past, our present, and eventually our future. Please stop by the Ranger Station to receive additional information and to reserve your spot—space is limited! This tour is designed for ATVs and Rhinos with riders ages 12 and older only.

Jr. Ranger Program (1 pm)
Let Park Naturalist Carleen Roberts take your kids on a fun and educational journey into one of the many facets of the Park. Topics will range from animals to plants to geology and weather, and will change weekly so there will always be something new and exciting to discover. Stop by the Ranger Station to meet Carleen and drop your kids off for this exciting adventure.

Guided Hike (2 pm)
Join one of our knowledgeable naturalists for a short 1-hour guided hike through the desert. This hike is suitable for all age groups. Topics change hike-by-hike and may include wildflowers, animals, geology, weather and much more. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the Park you visit and use for recreation. Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and bring plenty of water. To join this guided tour, please meet at the Ranger Station at 2 pm. Space is limited to 25 people.

Night Sky Adventure (6 pm - 8 pm)
Join us at the Ranger Station any time between 6 pm and 8 pm for an incredible look at the night sky. Park Interpreter and amateur astronomer Charlie Eversole will "wow" you with views of the moon, its craters and lunar seas, stars, and planets. Wear warm clothing and be prepared to roast marshmallows at this wonderful family event.
