Overview

The Napa County Regional Park and Open Space District and the Napa Valley State Parks Association took over operation of Bothe-Napa Valley State Park and the adjacent Bale Grist Mill State Historic Park on April 1, 2012. No State services or staff are available.

Bale Grist Mill State Historic Park is the site of a water-powered grist mill that was built in 1846 by pioneer doctor, Edward Turner Bale. The mill and its 36-foot water wheel have been partially restored, and an adjacent museum tells the story of the site. The park is three miles north of St. Helena (3369 N St.) on Highway 29. Exhibits/Programs

The first floor of the Bale Grist Mill is generally accessible. A ramped connector also provides museum access. Exhibits are mostly accessible.

Parking, routes, and restrooms: Designated accessible parking is available. An 850-foot-long paved accessible path leads from accessible parking to the mill and museum. Stair rails and risers on an alternate route are usable. Unisex restrooms along the accessible path are generally accessible.
