Overview
Doheny State Beach, located in the City of Dana Point, is one of California's most popular state beaches with visitation at almost one million visitors per year. Doheny has a day-use surfing beach at its northern end and a five-acre lawn with picnic facilities and volleyball courts. The southern end of Doheny has campgrounds, with some of the campsites only steps away from the beach. Beyond the campground heading south, an additional day-use area provides picnic tables and fire rings on the small beach bluff. Four accessible campsites are available (#16, #27, #91, #117). Each campsite has a fire ring and picnic table. Two combination restroom/shower buildings, located near site #16 and #117, are accessible. Van accessible parking is available adjacent to the combination restroom/shower buildings. The campfire center is accessible.Picnic Area
The North Day-Use Area features 10 accessible picnic areas and 2 accessible group picnic areas. Routes of travel to the picnic areas and throughout the north day-use area are accessible. Van accessible and standard accessible parking is available in all lots. Accessible restrooms and outdoor rinsing showers are available throughout, and 2 portable beach mats provide wheelchair access across the sand from this area. The horseshoe pit is also wheelchair accessible and is located off of lot 1, on the north end of the north day-use area.The South Day-Use Area features an accessible restroom with accessible outdoor rinsing showers. Van accessible parking is available throughout and several hard surfaced accessible picnic sites with fire rings are located along the narrow bluff above the surf line. The route of travel from the parking to the restroom is accessible.

Trails
The Beach Promenade Trail is a 0.34 mile paved accessible trail that meanders through the park offering great access to multiple day-use activities such as picnicking and beach side walking. The trail is generally flat at less than 5% slopes with one section for 103 feet at 8%. Beach/Shore Access
Several beach wheelchairs are available. Call (949) 496-6162 or (949) 496-6172 for more information. A wooden boardwalk in the North Day-Use Area extends from the snack bar/rental concessionaire to about halfway across the beach towards the ocean and ends at a shade structure. |
Exhibits/Programs
Visitor Center: A small visitor center is located just inside the park entrance. Accessible routes connect from nearby parking lots.
