San Onofre State Bluffs Restrictions - Updated 10/23/2026

Following the recent Scales Fire, some parts of the San Onofre Bluffs area have reopened to the public. The two most northern parking lots are now open to vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic. However, all areas south of the Trail 1 parking lot remain closed to the public, including all vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic. These closures will remain in effect out of an abundance of caution due to fire-related damage to trails and park infrastructure. The safety of park visitors and staff remains our top priority. We appreciate the public's patience and cooperation as we continue to assess the affected areas and work toward safely reopening the remaining portions of the park.
