School Group Visits
We value your business and strive to make every trip a learning experience. Use these helpful hints to plan a fantastic field trip:
San Juan Bautista State Historic Park and the Mission operate separate from each other. Each class must have a reservation for the state park AND the Mission. Mission contact (831-623-4528). Reservations for the Mission are now done only by appoitment and by phone. Mission San Juan Bautista's website is www.oldmissionsjb.org. There is a link to school reservations on the right hand side of the page.
We will do our best to accomodate your request but due to high demand may not be able to.
Upon arrival, please check in at the Plaza Hotel.
Schools arriving without a reservation may be turned away. If space is available, adults will be charged the current day use fee.
A ratio of 1 adult to every 7 students is required.
Program descriptions can be found on the park's main page at https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=563
Interpreter led programs: Mission Game, California Overtime, Wagons West and Days of Alta California are $75 per program. Payments due upon arrival. Please do not pay ahead of time. Payments payable in cash, credit card, check or money order made out to California State Parks. The state park accepts Visa, MasterCard, or Discover cards, cash, checks or money orders. Please make checks or money orders payable to "California State Parks".
Paid Interpreter led programs require extra staff, failure to submit payment or last minute cancellations will result in an invoice to the school's district.
A teacher must be present during all Interpreter led programs.
Please ensure all students and chaperones understand the importance of protecting the park’s fragile resources.
San Juan Bautista is heavily impacted during the spring; consider a fall field trip for a better experience.
