Junior Ranger Program

The California State Parks Junior Ranger program is a statewide educational inititative for children age 7 to 12. Participants can earn badges, certificates, stickers, patches and more!

Railtown's Junior Ranger program is included with park admission or an excursion train ride ticket.

Activities:

  • Daily self-guided program. You can obtain the Railtown Junior Ranger booklet at the park or download and print the booklet here: Junior Ranger Book

  • Railroad track building demonstration (Friday to Monday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm; subject to staff availability)

After completion of the activities, your child will be sworn in as a Junior Ranger and receive a Railtown Junior Ranger Badge!

We also offer a fun Scavenger hunt.

Little Ranger Program

The California State Parks Little Ranger program is for children age 3 to 7. The program at Railtown is offered April through October on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, subject to staff availability.

Activities:

  • Train crew hand and lantern signals
  • Story time
  • Coloring
  • Crafts
